This challenge will focus on how to use satellite imagery in the commercial arena. As data becomes more and more accessible, we can find many new commercial applications using geospatial imagery. In the agriculture industry, for example, farmers can nowadays make decisions related to their crops according to changes in atmospheric conditions, humidity and temperature that are monitored from space.
The question is what can be done with all this data? How can Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning help us in discovering unknown information? How can we create new business advantage? Will a combination of space and business analytics help us to better understand what to buy and when to sell goods? How can we change market behavior using this knowledge?
Unleash your creativity! Together with our expert mentors and partners you will discover the power of the unique combination of data science and satellite imagery for commercial applications.
In all challenges we encourage you to
merge EO (Electro Optical) and SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) data
combine low and high resolution images
add relevant data from other reliable sources
Interesting commercial applications could be:
Smart cities - How can we use satellite data of today to design the smart cities of tomorrow?
Tourism - How can we analyze the tourism industry and predict future trends using satellite imagery?
Transportation - How can we use data from space to help advance the transportation industry?
Manufacturing/ Construction/Mining/ Urban development - How can AI help us monitor and detect changes and developments in these fields such as: identifying illegal constructions, predicting the costs of valuable resources, monitoring the progress of construction sites, etc.
Insurance - How can we use satellite data and AI to improve the process of insurance compensations or to prevent insurance fraud?
Health implications - Can we detect the outburst of a disease or prevent the spread of health hazards by using AI and space data?
